Witam! :)
Looking to buy my first Porsche, and have settled on a manual 997. The budget is around EUR 30k (around PLN 120k). Unfortunately there are not many cars locally for me, so I have been following Polish advertisements.
These two are among the cheapest, and I wanted to ask if anybody has viewed them or know more about them:
https://www.otomoto.pl/oferta/porsche-9 ... zhtmh.html
https://www.otomoto.pl/oferta/porsche-9 ... A3dEC.html

Ads are online for quite some time, a month or two at least. I have contacted the sellers of both, got more descriptions and photos, checked history at carfax, etc. But I wonder if they are so good, or OK at least, why they ar still not sold? :) Unfortunately I do not have a person I trust to inspect them for me, and to come myself would cost a bit and take at least a day or two. So any experience from those who looked at those cars is very appreciated :)

This one is also in my budget range, but the mileage is on a high side:
https://www.otomoto.pl/oferta/porsche-9 ... A7zFA.html
Saw it on mobile.de as well, it's there for some time as well.
I would not mind such mileage if the car was well cared and in good shape. I myself want to have it as a daily driver (go to work, drive a kid to the kindergarten, go to a shop for milk or take my family to a restaurant on a weekend :) ) in summer and winter, so I will probably clock around 10-15 thousand kilometers per year. So any low-mileage car would become a high-mileage in 3-5 years in my hands :)

I know all those stories about IMS failures and bore scoring, but unfortunately 997.2 is still out of my budget. 987.2 cayman might be an option, but currently just a base model, not an S, and I lose 2 rear seats. Or should I save money for another year or two and wait for 997.2 prices to drop? :)

Anyway, I appreciate any help. Feel free to send me offers if you know somebody who is willing to sell a car in good shape, I will consider all options (C2, C2S, C4, C4S manual coupes).

Hi and welcome!

Be aware that many of cheap 911s on the Polish market are US imports. So VIN and Carfax check should be always the first step.

It seems that you are looking for S 3.8 version - bore scoring is more common on those. So when you find a car worth checking - make sure the full pre-purchase inspection incl. bore scope is performed.

The last silver one you linked seems to have frunk hood misaligned on the photos which is never a good sign.

Take your time to find a good one & good luck.

Wcooba, thank you for comments. Yes, I know about USA imports and carfax is my friend :) But those two first ones came to Poland several years ago not from the auctions, but like imports due to good USD exchange rate. They claim no accidents, but of course it cannot be verified from databases, only by inspection of the cars. That is why I am asking if somebody has actually checked them in the flesh.
The third one probably has not the hood, but front bumper misaligned. I have no problem with "cosmetic" shortages, because it is normal for a car with 200 thousand km life to have some experienced bumps and scratches. Besides, it is easy to check for re-painting and check the wheel alignment for possible warp of the body. I have seen some signatures of the guys in the forum with Tor Poznan lap times, maybe they have met this silver one from Poznan :)
I am not fixed on S version, simply the majority offered here are S'es from the US. Base models dominate the "european" versions, but these are rare here, mostly offered in Germany.
I also encourage everyone to comment in Polish if you are not comfortable with English, but have to say something. Google translate will help me get the idea ;)

If I may ask - where are you from (I mean what country) ? I am asking because the market for 997 in Poland is rather small. Additionally in Poland we have a high excise duty (18,6%) for car with engine displacement over 2000cm3.

Im afraid your budget might be a bit short for a well maintained 997

I am from the EU, but even a smaller market :) So no additional taxes if I import the car. I see that Polish prices are around 10-15% lower than German, but German car does not automatically mean it was maintained better. Besides, nicely repaired after a small accident still has a discount, and it can be technically very well maintained.

Probably 30k euros is just a starting point, but I have been searching for my first Porsche for almost a year, so I continue saving and prices continue dropping, and hopefully my budget and their prices meet sooner rather than later :) People say base 987.2 Cayman is a proper car with new generation engine and handling, and is within my budget. But I still do not want to pull the trigger, since with 997 I would get 2 rear seats, more power, more "special" car and much lower depreciation.
